Futzing with layout

Apropos of Andy bugging me about it, I have changed my blog's layout, minimizing the right hand column (and adding more links) and widening the text. What do people think of it?

(I haven't figured out how to change the comments interface, yet, but I hope to get it soon.)

Also, if anyone knows how to expand the number of "previous posts" listed, please let me know.

Edit: I have hyperlinked the titles of the posts. Now, they link to the postpages, where you can view all the comments from within the pretty interface. If only I could figure out how to put a "type your comment" box at the bottom of the postpages, I'd be considerably closer to mimicking some of the stuff I'm fond of at Livejournal.

Edit 2: The links under "fora" disappear on postpages. Anyone have a clue how to stop that?

Nice new links list. I particularly like that you've named all the people you linked to - they're much less mysterious that way!

If you do figure a way to make a comment box, I'd be very curious to hear about it. This comments interface chafes.

The hyperlinking of the titles is very good. I should steal it. The widening of the text is at least good for longer texts.

And thanks for the link! Next time you are editing though, if you remember, you might change my lastname to 'Holmström' (with an additional 'm' there). Names are important stuff.

Blogger's built-in comments have always sucked. You've seen Haloscan, the one I use; they're at www.haloscan.com and I can give them a qualified recommendation. I'm not wholly happy.

Someday what I'm going to do is figure out how to integrate PHPBBS with Blogger, so that the comments threads of my blog posts are PHPBBS threads.

Can you do non-pop ups with Haloscan? Also, do Haloscan comments appear at the bottom of your posts?

Huh.

It seems that HaloScan will:

1) Eat all the old comments, unless I do a manual import (something I'm not that willing to do.)

2) Not allow viewing of comments over 4 months old without a fee.

The vagaries of BlogSpot's interface seem far superior to those costs.

Did you republish your postpages after adding those links? I looked at your template and it didn't seem to have any CSS tricks to make the links vanish; they are just not present in the code.

That is, um, the postpage code.

Yup, I've republished and everything. :-(

I think I'll be futzing with the sidebar again soon. I'll try some stuff.
