对不起!都是我的错。
Or, for you non-Chinese readers, "I'm sorry! It's all my fault."
I took Matt to town for some of the stuff he posted in swimming with the sharks: Story Now. I had read him as saying that real-world, real-person content was somehow better for, or related to, Narrativism. This is not what he was saying.
Goals:
1) Before I post a rebuttal, read carefully what I am rebutting.
2) If possible, check with the person who wrote it about what they meant.
Apropos of (2): Matt, I'm still reading you as saying that you think that Narrativist games would be more appealing to a mass "non-gamer / non-geek" audience. Is this actually true? If it is, I'm going to tie a short rebuttal into another essay of mine.

Um, I don't think that's what I'm saying. I'll try to clarify:
I'm saying that gamers have demonstrated a lack of interest in "regular people" games. We have anecdotal evidence (i.e. The Girlfriend Syndrome) to indicate non-gamers might be interested in that king of game more so than your average gamer. And, these folks don't get caught up on the distracting minutiae that gamers clamor for, like pointy ears.
I am not saying that Narrativism is the "best" agenda to draw in these people. Maybe that's Gamism, I dunno. I don't really care, either, because I'm trying this one (Story Now aka Narrativism), whether is best or not. That's all I'm saying -- not that it's the gang-busters winner of the three modes.
Fair enough. I'll just have to find a new intro for my Gamism essay
Spoilsport.

But I'll step in, just 'cause I've said it before ...
... either Gamism or Narrativism, for this purpose. Sim is all about celebrating insider appreciation about something.

Ron: I think I agree. I have this big Gamism essay in me, so my thoughts on the matter should be at the Forge as soon as I can spare a few hours to write the damn thing.
